Innovation Dimensions (Global Composite, 0–100)
Country Innovation Profiles
The United States runs the world's deepest innovation ecosystem, combining top universities, deep capital markets, the largest venture funding base, and proven research-to-commercialization pathways. Strengths are AI, biotech, semiconductors and software. Risks include research funding political cycles and talent visa frictions.
India's innovation ecosystem has rapidly scaled. It hosts the world's third-largest startup base, world-leading digital public infrastructure, and a deep pharma and IT services research base. Weaknesses are R&D intensity (still under 1% of GDP) and deep-science commercialization. Talent and government support are scaling rapidly.
Brazil hosts the largest startup and innovation ecosystem in Latin America. Strengths are agricultural research (Embrapa), health sciences (Fiocruz), fintech, and Portuguese-language AI. Weaknesses include limited deep-tech commercialization, a small late-stage VC market, and high taxation on innovation activity.
